Our Wedding Day

“The greatest thing you’ll ever learn is to love and be loved in return”

If you told me 15 years ago that the boy I met  in High School would one day be my husband, I would probably have laughed. From the moment Alex and I met, we became good friends. Our friendship lasted several years before our first date at a quiet local pizza place in the Summer of 2006. As friends, we always had tons of fun together. As time went by the fun turned into appreciation, then a friendship leading into romance. A romance that flourished into love, leading us to a memorable wedding day that marked the beginning of a new chapter as husband and wife.

Going through our photos to create this post brought out so many emotions. As I sit here writing this post, I can’t believe that it has been almost a year since we said our “I do’s”. It’s true what they say, “time flies by when you’re having fun”. Today, in honor to our upcoming one-year anniversary, I am excited to share a glimpse of our very special day with you.

November, I Will Always Remember

Under clear blue skies, caressed by a cool Fall breeze, shaded by majestic Banyan trees, and in the presence of our favorite humans; I married my best friend one November morning. With the morning sun rising, and a string trio setting in the tunes of “A Thousand Years” we said our “I Do’s” and promised ourselves to one another on November 19th, 2016.

The inspiration behind our wedding was a combination of vintage and classic whimsical romance. Growing up in Cuba surrounded by a vintage world, deeply influenced my inspiration for our wedding theme. My main goal for our wedding, was to create an effortless  timeless ambiance. The final touch on setting in the mood was provided by the talented string trio of Master Musicians.

The Perfect Moment

Alex & I opted not to do a first look, so with a heart full of anticipation I made my way towards my beloved. I glanced up as the doors opened, and we locked eyes as my father walked me down the aisle. Our first glance at each other was everything I ever daydreamt of. There we were, the same two kids who fell in love ten years ago. We have gone through much change and growth along the years, but our hearts and love have always remained the same. Our wedding day was full of amazing moments, but  without a doubt this one was my favorite.

Photo Diary

From the beginning, we knew that we wanted an intimate wedding with our closest friends and family. We ambitioned an intimate and romantic ambiance for our special day. I recall sitting down at our sweetheart table after our first dance, and taking a moment to look around the room and rejoice in the company of such great group of genuine souls. It was truly such a magical day, with the most special people.

To My Bride-To-Be’s

While flowers, décor and the reception are important, what matters most is the union of you two. If feeling overwhelmed during the wedding preparations, remind yourself of what’s the core value of the celebration. Remind yourself that the wedding is about the two of you and nothing more. I feel incredibly lucky that Alex was such a supportive fiancé, and was so helpful during the process.  Share the preparations, enjoy it and have fun with it. Do not stress over the little things, at the end of the day it all comes together (I promise). Keep focus on what’s important ( you and your better half) and enjoy your day, it’s over before you know it.

There are no words to describe the feeling of promising your love to someone, surrounded by those who are closest to your heart. I would say that is a lot like loving someone, it’s not something to be described, it must be felt. The 19th of November, I will always  remember.
